The dyslexia-friendly bible and typeface that's changing lives!

Here at Sarah Grace Publishing, it's been incredible to see the response to the recent release of two dyslexia-friendly bibles. Crossway has published the ESV Dsylexia-friendly Bible and Lifeway produced the wonderful Grace Bible for Kids.

Our own Sarah Grace, who was heavily involved in the development of the Grace Typeface used in the bibles, has shared a recent story with us about how these bibles are truly going to change people's lives. Take it away, Sarah!

"Well, what a privilege it has been to hand a copy of the Dyslexic Friendly Grace Bible to my dear friend, Elena.

I met Elena at a women’s breakfast and told her about the work I was doing with a dyslexic-friendly font, named after me, called The Grace Typeface.

Elena was so excited and overwhelmed that finally her prayer had been answered! A bible she could finally read! Being dyslexic, she had struggled to express how hard it had been to read alone but especially with others. Even to the point of avoiding such a situation as she had been shamed as a teenager for her literacy skills.

She felt there was something wrong with her and didn’t understand why. She started to find strategies and hide her shame and embarrassment as many dyslexics have to do.

No one had an idea of the pain and humiliation she had hidden until I turned and saw tears running down Elena’s face. I am familiar with the pain and shame that goes beyond words. It's too hard to share, just in case someone doesn’t understand it. Elena could see that I understood and had been working quietly in the background to bring this font into being with the typographers at 2K Denmark over the last six years. Two American publishers also fell in love with it and so came the bible that Elena, and many others like myself, had been praying for!

These photos show how much we connected over this and I had been looking forward to this moment for months. To hand this bible to Elena, see her open it up and read God’s word for the first time, was a thrill and a moment that will stay with me forever. If it was just for Elena, all this was worth it, yet I know this will be life-changing for so many. Not just people with dyslexia but anyone with any known or unknown visual stress. It just makes it so much easier to read so we can process, digest and engage with the words and in this case, with the word of God.

In Elena’s words, 'Finally, a bible designed for me in mind. I can read it without having to keep pausing to process, it just makes it so much easier. The font has been designed with the love and understanding for the dyslexic mind. A blessing and a never-ending gift. Thank you, Sarah.'

My gift was to give this to Elena. She is such a blessing in my life as is the Grace Typeface."
